Choosing the right format

JPG is best for photos: it keeps files small by removing detail you're unlikely to notice. PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which suits screenshots, logos and images with text or transparency. PDF is a document format that can hold many pages and prints the same everywhere, which suits certificates, applications and scans.

Online forms often accept only one format, which is the most common reason to convert. A phone screenshot may need to be a JPG, a scanned certificate may need to be a PDF, or a single page of a PDF may need to be an image for social media. This converter handles all of these. It detects each file's real format from its contents, not just its name, so renamed files are converted correctly.

To combine several photos into one document, for example the front and back of an ID card, choose PDF and keep Merge images into one PDF ticked. To turn a PDF into images, each page becomes its own JPG or PNG, and you can pick the resolution: 150 DPI for screens, 300 DPI for printing.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion happens in your browser, and your files never leave your computer or phone.

What happens to multi-page PDFs?

Each page is saved as a separate image. If there is more than one page, the images are downloaded together in a ZIP file.

What's the difference between JPG and JPEG?

None. They are the same format with different file extensions. Some websites and forms only accept one of them, so you can switch between them here.

Which resolution should I choose for PDF to image?

Medium (150 DPI) is good for screens and sharing. Choose High (300 DPI) for printing or reading small text. The files will be larger.
